The Dead Sea
The Dead Sea sits 430 metres below sea level, the lowest exposed point on Earth, in a desert basin shared by Israel and Jordan. Its name reflects a biological fact: the salinity is high enough that almost nothing lives in the water. For skin, that same chemistry is the reason to pay attention.
The water holds 34% dissolved minerals, roughly ten times the concentration of any ocean. Magnesium, Sodium, Potassium and Calcium appear together in ratios that occur nowhere else on the planet. These are the same minerals the skin uses to maintain hydration, regenerate cells and hold the barrier intact, and here they exist at concentrations where the effect is measurable rather than theoretical.
AHAVA holds the only licence to extract minerals directly from the Dead Sea for cosmetic use. The water is concentrated through natural solar evaporation, without chemical processing, into Osmoter™, our proprietary mineral complex. The method draws from the basin without depleting it.
